Tennessee's only majority-Black congressional district was 61.1 percent Black. In May the legislature repealed its own 54-year ban on mid-decade redistricting and cut Memphis into three pieces that came out 27, 28 and 32 percent. Its chair is now posting recruitment videos asking white men to file discrimination claims and "recover money," the Vice President is boosting them, and the same commission has voted to stop collecting the workforce data that measures discrimination in the first place. Rep. Chuy García put fourteen seconds of fury on Facebook: $240 billion for "racist thugs to terrorize and kill people on our streets," and nothing for healthcare or housing. Strong words invite checking, so we checked every one. Nancy Mace's resolution would dissolve the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, which she calls "federally sanctioned segregation."
