  • Trump Told Minnesota to Fight Back Against Somali Immigrants.

Official 2017 White House portrait of President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump told Minnesotans to fight back against Somali immigrants in an October 8 Truth Social post. He described Minnesota as being taken over by that community, blamed it for statewide disorder and offered federal help. This was the president speaking to the public, not an anonymous account getting carried away in the replies. Here is the instruction in his own words: "The people of Minnesota must fight back." The post ends by demanding …

  • Two Mike Collins Organizers Had Led a Group Founded by an Ex-Klan Leader.

Official congressional portrait of Representative Mike Collins of Georgia

Rep. Mike Collins's Georgia Senate campaign appointed county organizers who had held leadership roles in American Patriots USA, a group founded by former Klan leader Chester Doles. FOX 5 Atlanta's October 7 report, following a Daily Beast investigation, identifies Joshua Mote and Michael Boggus. The campaign says their past associations were unknown to it. Mote had been the group's vice president; Boggus its state director. The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies American Patriots USA as …

  • John Kennedy Said El-Sayed Sleeps in a Bin Laden Jersey. Mike Rogers Laughed.

Editorial cartoon: John Kennedy imagines Abdul El-Sayed in a Bin Laden jersey inside a thought bubble labeled Kennedy’s imagination, while Michigan’s Mike Rogers laughs beside him.

Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana said Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed sleeps in a Bin Laden jersey at an October 9 campaign appearance with Republican nominee Mike Rogers. AP reports that Rogers laughed. El-Sayed is Muslim. Apparently that was enough material for the visiting senator. The clip shared by reporter Julian Andreone places Kennedy's line in a discussion of AIPAC's involvement in the race. The operative words are worth keeping: "sleeps in a Bin …

  • Trump's 2027 Refugee Plan Gives Priority to White South Africans.

    President Donald Trump official portrait

Trump's administration proposes up to 17,500 refugee admissions for fiscal year 2027, primarily for white South African Afrikaners. His signed decision added 10,000 places for Afrikaners in fiscal year 2026. Global Refuge reported on September 22 that all but three of the 12,904 refugees admitted that year as of its statement came from South Africa. The preference has a paper trail.

  • Laura Loomer Called Five Black Women "Ghetto." Asked to Explain, She Said "I Spoke the Truth."

Pen-and-ink editorial cartoon: a pile of crumpled insulting posts spills out of a White House door tagged White House Guest, while a Republican elephant in a suit turns away holding a sign reading Not Ours.

A note on the file first. This roll call is about Republicans: officials, candidates, the party. Laura Loomer is none of those on paper. She's a far-right activist. She's here anyway, because Donald Trump has publicly praised her and met with her at the White House, and because a Republican member of Congress looked at what she wrote and said the party owns it. We'll take her word for it. Angie Nixon is a state …

  • The Education Department Found a Way to End School Discrimination: Stop Counting It

Pen-and-ink editorial cartoon: a bureaucrat uses an eraser labeled U.S. Dept. of Education to wipe a chalkboard chart titled Suspensions by Race, beside a tied stack of papers labeled Desegregation Orders stamped Case Closed.

Most entries in this roll call have a quote at the center: somebody said the thing. This one doesn't. The administration has figured out the quieter version, which is to stop looking. The Associated Press laid out the pieces on September 25. Here they are in order. In May 2025, President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to stop examining "disparate impact": policies that look neutral on paper but land much harder on …

  • Ted Cruz Named Three Democrats. The Crowd Yelled "He Should Be Shot." Cruz Kept Going.

Official Senate portrait of Sen. Ted Cruz

This one is about religion before it is about race, and this archive says so up front, as it always has. But the machinery is the same one we document every week: pick the name that sounds foreign, attach a threat to it, and let the room do the rest. On September 10, at the Republican midterm convention, Sen. Ted Cruz offered the crowd "a simple truth: When people tell you who they are, believe …

  • JD Vance Told the Convention He's Tired of Being Called Racist for "Noticing"

Official vice presidential portrait of JD Vance

The Republican outreach continues! The party wants you to know it is sick and tired of being called racist. Really sick of it. So tired that the Vice President of the United States made it a centerpiece of his convention speech. On Thursday, September 10, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, JD Vance gave his closing argument for the midterms. This is the line: "We were tired of being called racists for noticing that …

  • Texas Won. Bo French Looked at the Student Section and Saw Foreigners.

Pen-and-ink editorial cartoon: a man squints through a magnifying glass at his phone and shouts "Foreigners!" at a cheering student section of South Asian football fans in longhorn jerseys; one student replies, "We're juniors, sir."

Some wins are big enough that the whole state gets to enjoy them. The Longhorns' upset of Ohio State was one of those. Kids in burnt orange, screaming in the stands, having the best Saturday of the semester. Bo French had a different reaction. French is the Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner, the office that regulates the state's oil and gas industry, on the ballot against Democratic state Rep. Jon Rosenthal of Houston. He …

  • The Court Ruled It Could Not Look at Why. Now ICE Is Going to Springfield.

Demonstrators at a Dayton, Ohio rally in September 2024 standing in solidarity with Haitian immigrants in Springfield

In June the Supreme Court held 6-3 that the law forbids courts from reviewing why the government ends Temporary Protected Status. Justice Kagan, dissenting, wrote that the President's statements about Haitians were "so repellent and racially inflected that the majority declines to put them in print." On July 27 protections ended for more than 300,000 Haitians. Reporting now places the coming enforcement in Springfield, Ohio... the same town the same administration built a lie about …
