  • The Education Department Found a Way to End School Discrimination: Stop Counting It

This summer the Education Department rescinded the rule that let it spot discrimination by comparing racial outcomes. Its new guidance says schools can't consider race when writing discipline policy, even when one group is suspended far more than the rest. Meanwhile the Justice Department has closed more than 50 school desegregation cases. In one Louisiana parish, the transfers stopped almost as soon as the order did.

  • The Court Ruled It Could Not Look at Why. Now ICE Is Going to Springfield.

In June the Supreme Court held 6-3 that the law forbids courts from reviewing why the government ends Temporary Protected Status. Justice Kagan, dissenting, wrote that the President's statements about Haitians were "so repellent and racially inflected that the majority declines to put them in print." On July 27 protections ended for more than 300,000 Haitians. Reporting now places the coming enforcement in Springfield, Ohio... the same town the same administration built a lie about…

  • Fifty Years of Keeping Score, and the Fiftieth Report Says the Dream Moved Further Away

The National Urban League has published State of Black America every year since 1976. The 50th edition landed last week with a sentence that should have led every newscast in the country: the American Dream "may not be dead for many Black Americans, but it is further away than at any point since the Civil Rights Movement." Black homeownership sits at 44 percent against 73 for white Americans. The median Black household holds fifteen cents…

  • Tennessee Divided Memphis and Put the Rule in Writing: Say Nothing About Race

Tennessee's only majority-Black congressional district was 61.1 percent Black. In May the legislature repealed its own 54-year ban on mid-decade redistricting and cut Memphis into three pieces that came out 27, 28 and 32 percent. On July 23 a federal panel found the plaintiffs "lack any direct evidence of racial motivation," and then, in footnote 3, described the doctrine as a game in which the majority party "coaches its legislators to stay quiet." They stayed…

  • Ten Months After the Court Blessed the Stops, the Numbers Are In. The Dissent Was a Forecast.

In September 2025, Justice Sotomayor dissented from the order that let immigration agents resume stops based partly on looking Latino: "We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job." Ten months later, researchers pulled the government's own arrest data. Detentions of Latinos with no criminal record are up sixfold, and the agents are on bodycam using…

  • The Civil Rights Agency Is Now Running Recruitment Ads for Aggrieved White Men

The EEOC exists because of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Its chair is now posting recruitment videos asking white men to file discrimination claims and "recover money," the Vice President is boosting them, and the same commission has voted to stop collecting the workforce data that measures discrimination in the first place. The agency of Title VII, advertising for the one demographic, while burning the ledgers.

  • Nancy Mace Calls the Congressional Black Caucus "Federally Sanctioned Segregation"

Rep. Nancy Mace's resolution would dissolve the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, which she calls "federally sanctioned segregation." Her own press release also names more than a dozen congressional staff associations from both parties, including the Greek American and Italian American ones, whose members are white.

  • Republicans are doomed: How the GOP’s cynical election strategy is imploding

As Donald Trump enmeshed himself in a bitter fight with the parents of an American Muslim military hero -- and Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and John McCain looked to put distance between themselves and their party’s presidential nominee -- there’s actually worse news for Republicans. Several important court victories for voting rights since Friday could dramatically remake the campaign for Congress and the White House, and this time, GOP leadership may have a harder time…

  • Governor Chris Christie Calls for a Referendum on Civil Rights

Chris Christie Psycho Talk About Civil Rights This one speaks for itself. The Governor says people would have rather voted on Civil Rights than fight for them in the 60's... But he has forgotten one thing... The people who were demanding their civil rights couldn't vote. You can't vote for your civil rights when you don't have civil rights. This just goes to show that even when one spends months convincing you that he is…
