Colin Powell Emails Expose His Opinion on Racism in the GOP

colin-powell

Former 4 Star General and Secretary of State Colin Powell

For years, Colin Powell has been one of the Republicans used as an example of how the GOP simply cannot be racist.  How can we be racist when Colin Powell thinks we’re cool?

Well, this week, DCLeaks.com has released a batch of personal emails from the Former Secretary of State and retired four-star general.  In these leaked emails, Powell let’s some real talk fly.  He gives his opinion on the Republican Party as a whole…

In an email from May of this year, with the subject line “racism,” Powell reiterated a position he had taken in that past, writing, “Or as I said before the 2012 election, ‘There is a level of intolerance in parts of the Republican Party.’” – BuzzFeed

But some of the most biting comments from Powell are directed at the 2015 Republican Candidate for President…  Donald Trump who he refers to as “a national disgrace” and an “international pariah.”  Ouch.  BuzzFeed News also gave us a few other tasty bits…

“Yup, the whole birther movement was racist,” Powell wrote. “That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn’t keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim.” – BuzzFeed

And in a December 2015 email to CNN anchor Fareed Zakaria, Powell recounted his aversion to speaking about Trump to the press, writing, “You guys are playing his game, you are his oxygen. He outraged us again today with his comments on Paris no-go for police districts. I will watch and pick the timing, not respond to the latest outrage.” – BuzzFeed

Donald Trump is “the Least Racist Person that You’ve Ever Met”

donald-trump-grow-up

Donald Trump isn’t a racist.  You can take his word for it.

Donald trump is back to letting everyone know how he’s not a racist.  It’s all the media spinning his comments into racist sounding rhetoric.

On September 15th, 2016, the Detroit News posted an article about the interview which can be found here.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told a black Detroit pastor he’s the “least racist person you have ever met” during an interview filmed at an African-American church on the city’s west side.

Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, pastor of Great Faith Ministries International Church, promised before his much publicized interview with Trump that he would confront the New York businessman about the perception that he’s racist.

“Are you a racist?” Jackson asked Trump in the Sept. 3 interview that aired Wednesday night on the Impact Network.

“Absolutely not,” Trump replied.

Some of the notable quotes include…

“They called Romney a racist, they called McCain a racist, they call everybody that’s a Republican a racist,” Trump told Jackson. “Usually when they start to lose. … But I am the least racist person that you’ve ever met.”

“They say — so many of my friends who are black — they say ‘You are the least racist person,’” Trump said.

That should clear everything up for us all.  And what is Trump’s plan for helping the inner city population of Detriot?

“My policy’s jobs, and I’m going to be a cheerleader for the country,” Trump said.

Not sure that’s a policy or just more rhetoric but but hey…  It is what it is.

Texas Republican Senate Candidate Urges Border Residents To Shoot ‘Wetbacks’ On Sight

Well, Republican Primary Season is upon us once again and nothing gets the truth out of GOP candidates quite like the mad dash to the right that they all do in order to please the base. Some candidates know exactly what their kind wants to hear and it leads some of them to drop the dog whistles and come straight out with it. Today we get to hear from Texas Republican Senate Candidate Chris Mapp who participated in a series of interviews with the Dallas Morning News as they decide who gets their endorsement in the primary against sitting Senator John Cornyn.

Texas Republican Senate Candidate Chris Mapp

Getting the endorsement of the Dallas Morning News Editorial Board is a definite leg up in a primary that is filled with Tea Party candidates. Chris Mapp has decided that getting to the right of Cornyn is his best shot and he let it all hang out in his interview. Here is how the Dallas Morning News article puts it:

South Texas businessman Chris Mapp, 53, told this editorial board that ranchers should be allowed to shoot on sight anyone illegally crossing the border on to their land, referred to such people as “wetbacks,” and called the president a “socialist son of a bitch.”

Unsurprisingly, the Dallas Morning News then went on to endorse John Cornyn.

But Chris Mapp wasn’t done! Later, in an interview with the San Antonio Express-News, Mapp defended his use of the term “wetbacks.” He described the slur as normal for Texans and said its use is as “normal as breathing air in south Texas,” according to the newspaper.

Apparently what Chris Mapp is saying is that Republicans being Racists in South Texas is as normal as breathing air. I wonder how many of his constituents agree.

Oklahoma GOP Leader Gets “Jewed Down” On A Price

Oklahoma Republican House Majority Leader Dennis Johnson

Oklahoma Republican House Majority Leader Dennis Johnson

The Republican outreach to minorities continues! The new Republican party wants non-white citizens to understand that they aren’t just the party of old, white guys. The GOP is now opening the tent wide for people of all creeds and colors.

Continuing that effort, Oklahoma Republican House Majority Leader Dennis Johnson used his time during a floor debate to discuss effective strategies for small business owners.

“There’s such a thing called niche marketing,” he began. “You find out what you do better than somebody else and that’s what you market.”

I’m with ya, Dennis. Niche Marketing. I got it.

“Then you get the reward of success. People come back to you,” he continued. “They like the service they get, and they don’t ask me—they might try to Jew me down on a price, that’s fine. You know what? That’s free market as well.”

Facepalm.

The “new” GOP wants to reach out to people of all colors but they simply can’t stop their true inner feelings from surfacing.

Immediately after this comment, someone hastily whispers to Leader Johnson and he turns back to the mic to apologize.

“I apologize to the Jews. They’re good small businessmen as well,” Johnson said with a laugh.

Double facepalm. They still don’t get it.

In a later interview with The Oklahoman, Johnson explained that it was a term used in his youth that somehow bubbled up out of nowhere. He said that the comment “came out of one of the wrinkles of my brain and it was not something that was intentional.”

Hmmmm… Where have I heard that before? No one has to convince me that, deep in one of the wrinkles of their brain, Republicans are racists.

GOP Meltdown 2012: Mapping Racist Tweets from the Presidential Election

Data-mapping experts from the Floating Sheep blog mapped geo-located Tweets containing racist language during the build-up to the US election. I’m sure the results will shock you. Concentrated racism in the South? No way! As a resident of Georgia and having watched the campaign as it affected my neighbors, my only surprise is that Georgia wasn’t #1. I guess that’s part of what makes Alabama and Mississippi such magical places! Click here for details and methodology behind this image.

Romney Rally Fail: Put the White Back in the White House!

"Put the White Back in the White House" T-Shirt at Romney / Ryan Rally.

“Put the White Back in the White House” T-Shirt at Romney / Ryan Rally.

This Getty Images photo from a Romney / Ryan rally in Lancaster, Ohio on Friday has gotten a lot of attention. I wonder why? This Romney supporter not only felt comfortable enough in this crowd to wear a t-shirt saying “Put the White back in the White House” but he wanted to spike the ball by adding a Romney / Ryan sticker to the top of the message.

A Romney spokesperson commented that the shirt was “reprehensible and has no place in this election.” That being said, the Right-wing Media leaped to Romnney’s rescue claiming that this guy was a Democratic plant and that the photo was taken outside. There is absolutely no evidence of a plant (but what else can you say just weeks before the election) and it was later proven that the photo was indeed taken inside of the event.

This is certainly no surprise, and I’m sure the man got mad props on his wardrobe choice from his fellow Republicans, but what terrible timing. Didn’t anyone tell him that the GOP really wants to downplay the race issue until after election day? Guess it doesn’t matter to this guy. The important thing to him is getting his message out by preaching to his racist choir.

Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Racist Conservative

Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Frustrated Conservative

Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Frustrated Conservative

When one thinks of the mindset of a Republican in Arkansas, it is not hard to imagine them being pretty extreme. It is along that line of thinking that I will present quotes from the book “Letters to the Editor: Confessions of a Frustrated Conservative” written by Republican Legislator Jon Hubbard of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

For my racist readers (and I know you’re there,) this is a book that you’re going to love. It’s not only chock full of bigoted statements, it even includes the prediction of a full-on race war similar to what we saw in Nazi Germany. It’s yet another peek into the mind of another elected member of the GOP. It’s filled with contradictions and horrible interpretations of Biblical scripture.

Here is a list of some of the choice quotes as compiled by the Arkansas Times.

Slavery was good for black people:

“… the institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth.” (Pages 183-89)

If you think slavery was bad, you should have seen Africa:

African Americans must “understand that even while in the throes of slavery, their lives as Americans are likely much better than they ever would have enjoyed living in sub-Saharan Africa.”

“Knowing what we know today about life on the African continent, would an existence spent in slavery have been any crueler than a life spent in sub-Saharan Africa?” (Pages 93 and 189)

Black people are ignorant:

“Wouldn’t life for blacks in America today be more enjoyable and successful if they would only learn to appreciate the value of a good education?” (Page 184)

Integration was bad for white people and black people are lazy:

“… one of the stated purposes of school integration was to bring black students up to a level close to that of white students. But, to the great disappointment of everyone, the results of this theory worked exactly in reverse of its intended purpose, and instead of black students rising to the educational levels previously attained by white students, the white students dropped to the level of black students. To make matters worse the lack of discipline and ambition of black students soon became shared by their white classmates, and our educational system has been in a steady decline ever since.” (Page 27)

It’s basically hopeless:

“… will it ever become possible for black people in the United States of America to firmly establish themselves as inclusive and contributing members of society within this country?” (Page 187)

Immigration is bad:

..the immigration issue, both legal and illegal… will lead to planned wars or extermination. Although now this seems to be barbaric and uncivilized, it will at some point become as necessary as eating and breathing.” (Page 9)

Don’t forget Nazi Germany:

“American Christians are assuming a similar stance as did the citizens of Germany during Hitler’s rise to power.” (Page 158)

Now that should whet your appetite. Get out there and grab a copy. Only one elected Republican wrote it but he’s far from being alone in sharing the book’s sentiments. Finally, there is an owner’s manual for the modern Republican “Christian” mind.

Texas Republican Lynches An Empty Chair

Texas Republican Lynches an Empty Chair

Strung Up! Texas Republican Lynches an Empty Chair.

Yesterday in Texas, the Burnt Orange Report received a photo of an empty chair, representing President Obama in a bizarre Clint Eastwood homage, being lynched in the front yard of a Texas Republican.

The poor chair was lynched in the front yard of an Austin, Texas homeowner and has many on the right asking, “How is that racist?  Chairs have no race!”

The problem, as pointed out by Katherine Haenschen, is that Texas has a long history of very real lynching. From 1885 to 1942, only Mississippi and Georgia had more lynchings and the overwhelming majority of those lynchings were of African-Americans.  He didn’t have to include a winking emoticon to make sure we all get his point.  It’s pretty easy to translate.

When contacted and asked about the chair by Haenschen, the Austin homeowner had this to say: “I don’t really give a damn whether it disturbs you or not. You can take [your concerns] and go straight to hell and take Obama with you. I don’t give a shit. If you don’t like it, don’t come down my street.” Ahhhhhh, the freedom to choose!  I wonder if all of his neighbors have the same option to avoid his bigoted message.  I believe his comment says all we need to know about the intent and the very audible dog-whistle sent by this… He wants President Obama hanged and has already done so on his front lawn in effigy.

The man is not alone in presenting this message either. This report from Blue Virginia shows another empty chair lynching in that state.

Check out the entire story here from the Daily KOS and add two more to the ever growing list of Republicans that are racist.

Mitt Romney’s Racist Joke At A 1% Fundraiser

As Mitt Romney was giving a speech at the Los Angeles Hispanic Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a video was being leaked from a Romney private fund raiser held in the residence of one of his 1% supporters.  Judging by the camera position, someone was being sneaky and getting a recording of a speech that Romney certainly didn’t want leaving that room.  Well, in this day and age, there is no such thing as complete privacy.  Now we can let the real Mitt tell you how he feels.

“My dad, as you probably know, was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company. But he was born in Mexico… and had he been born of, uh, Mexican parents, I’d have a better shot at winning this. But he was unfortunately born to Americans living in Mexico. He lived there for a number of years. I mean, I say that jokingly, but it would be helpful to be Latino.”

That’s right, kids.  Romney thinks things would be better for him if he had been born Latino instead of drawing the short straw and being born white, rich beyond most of our wildest dreams, and ruggedly handsome.  The poor man has suffered so much, as we all know from the RNC, and all he wants is to be a minority.

Rep. Charlie Gonzalez of San Antonio had the following to say: “It’s not about being a Latino that would make Romney a better candidate,” Gonzalez said. “Latinos, and all Americans, look at the substance of a candidate’s proposals to determine who is the better candidate and who best represents the priorities of their community. That is why upon examining the policies willingly supported by Romney on the economy, health care, and immigration, Latinos overwhelmingly support President Obama.”

Now is your time, loyal GOP defenders, to step up once again to declare yourselves innocent.  The truth keeps coming out, though.  When among their own kind and unaware that any outsiders are listening, even Republican Presidential Candidates are racists.

Rodeo Clown Makes Racist Joke And Proves That Rodeo Clowns Aren’t Funny

Ann Romney and First Lady Michelle Obama

On Saturday, Rodeo Clown Mike Hayhurst of Barstow CA made an offensive joke over the PA system at the Creston Classic Rodeo. Most people in America were already very aware that rodeo clowns simply aren’t funny unless they are getting a bull horn in the seat of their Wrangler jeans. We really didn’t need another reason not to laugh at them but here comes yet another.

Rodeo Clown Mike Hayhurst of Barstow, CA

Rodeo Clown Mike Hayhurst of Barstow, CA

During some ad-lib with the rodeo announcer, Hayhurst told a joke that goes like this: Playboy is offering Ann Romney $250,000 to pose in the magazine, and the White House is upset about it because National Geographic only offered Michelle Obama $50 to pose for their magazine.

Later that day, Hayhurst apparently suffered a head injury that landed him in the hospital. On Sunday, the press called him at the hospital to ask him if he wanted to apologize for making the sexist and overtly racist joke. Hayhurst only responded by saying “I cannot believe how insensitive you are. I am in the hospital.” He then uttered a vulgarity and hung up. Now THAT is funny.

Hayhurst is a self-professed Republican (as if the joke itself wasn’t evidence enough) and, as one of my readers pointed out, is a Superintendent for Excelsior Charter Schools in California. According to his rodeo clown website, Hayhurst offers “good clean family comedy always!” Before you book him for your next rodeo, however, make sure that the families that are attending are white… And racist.
